Hit Points, Defense, and Guts

So I decided to try to figure out the actual values of health for each character. Besides just hit points, everyone takes different damage (Defense). Generally the lower you HP, the less damage you take; and the higher you HP, the more damage you take (though this isn't the case with Coyori and Urs/Ashley). The following chart I use Donvalve to attack all the characters use his Crouching C, Half Center Toward B (Hammer),and 360C.

HP - 2C - Ham - 360C - Percent of damage taken (Defense)
Watson: 2100 401 464 714 (082.16%)
Marco: 2680 415 480 738 (084.93%)
Cedric: 2830 430 497 765 (088.03%)
Odile: 3100 471 545 838 (096.43%)
Coyori: 3150 500 577 888 (102.19%)
Olivia: 3200 489 565 869 (100.00%)
Ashley: 3470 526 608 936 (107.71%)
Urs: 3650 511 590 909 (104.60%)
Freed: 4100 538 622 958 (110.24%)
Face: 4440 580 670 1032 (118.76%)

Base on the following numbers, sense Olivia and Ashley are in the middle, Im going to say Olivia is going to be taking 100% damage, since she has her HP value ends in two zeros.

Based on these facts, if you hit Olivia with something that does 32 damage 100 times (with out applying guts) then she dies. Taking the HP values and Defensive values of all characters, you can come up with accurate health ratings.

Death: 5500 (134.75%) 127.55
Don: 6580 (147.30%) 139.60

With this chart, you can actually see the Cedric and Odile can take more damage then Olivia can. Even though they have less hit points, they take less damage that makes up for it even more. Not only that, Coyori actually takes the more damage then everyone in the game besides Watson, because she takes I higher percentage of damage.

All the following studies do not count for guts. You take less damage the lower your life is, this is called Guts.

As far as guts go, everyone's is different. In this simple test just to see if guts were different between each character (much like Guilty Gear), I used Olivia's Standing Close C on another Olivia. The attack does about 293 damage, but once Olivia got down to around 33% health, it started doing 275, which is about 93.86% damage. But when I was hitting Donvalve with the same attack, The attack does 432 damage, but guts didn't start kicking in for Donvalve until he was at about 25% health. Not only that, he was started taking about 397 damage, which is 91.89 percent damage.

So not only does the percent of damage taken change between each character, the time in which guts kick in is also different. This study is going to take me awhile. One I won't be able to do it anytime soon >.<

i did something like that a while ago.
i used a modifier like in the guilty gear mooks, so the chart is probably easier to understand than %.

There's also some info about damage reduction.

This is his testing

DEFENSE VALUES
(higher means they take more damage, like in guilty gear)
(important note: there is damage reduction once chars lose a certain amount of life. It only happens below 50% health in increasing amounts)

watson: 1.3055

how to calculate / how that even affects you:
first of all, the HP values of all chars:

watson: 2190HP
marco: 2680HP
cedric: 2830HP
odile & dokurod: 3100HP
coyori: 3150HP
olivia: 3200HP
urs: 3650 HP
ashley: 3470HP

freed: 4100HP
face: 4440HP

deathbringer: 5500HP
donvalve: 6580HP

since there is a damage modificator, it looks as if you do more damage to don valve than to watson if you use the same combo. However, if you look at how much % of the life bar the combo takes off, you can see that you do a lot more damage to watson than to donvalve. This is how the defense values were created (of course i did extensive testing).

also note that some characters have more HP than others, but worse defense, so ultimately, the defense modifier is the important thing to look at.
and also:
always use the same enemy char in practice to avoid confusion. I suggest URS.


DAMAGE REDUCTION
(first testing, urs only, tested with single hits, inaccurate)

- 49% health: 98% damage
- 33,3% health: 89% damage
- 20% health: 82% damage
- 10% health: 68% damage
